With over a decade of experience as both a merchant and an acquirer, the principal consultant of Chargelytics Consulting is passionate about providing customized solutions to reduce risk while maximizing revenue, as well as providing value to the ecosystem through customized research and reports.
Biography
Karisse Hendrick is the founder of Chargelytics Consulting. She is extremely passionate about the world of fraud prevention and chargeback reduction. Armed with a strong sense of justice and a curiosity for human behavior, she quickly fell in love with online fraud prevention over 15 years ago. Karisse’s experience is incredibly unique, mixing her passion for justice and sociology with her immense knowledge of the card network rules and regulations and an intimate awareness of processes, systems and best practices used by hundreds of the largest companies in the world.
From her unique background working for a merchant processor (where she learned the rules and processes for all 4 card networks), two online merchants with challenging business models for fraud (allowing her to practice chargeback and fraud reduction strategies that she learned in her previous role) and in two formal support roles for hundreds of the largest e-commerce companies in the world (gaining an extensive network of online merchants while learning the various fraud & chargeback threats impacting all different merchant categories as well as which solutions work best) Karisse has an incredibly unique set of skills in this industry. She also genuinely enjoys helping online companies learn from her experience and knowledge.
While she is considered an expert in online fraud prevention, Karisse’s real love is chargebacks. Through her extensive experience, she has learned that the best way to reduce chargebacks for an online company is to learn the motivation & reasons behind why consumers are issuing chargebacks with their bank, whether that be because their credit card was stolen, because the cardholder is taking advantage of the process or the merchant may be unintentionally encouraging refunds via the cardholders' bank. While it can’t be disputed that the chargeback system is not always fair towards online merchants, Karisse has learned how to use the rules in a merchant’s favor, both in the reduction of incoming volume, as well as in the re-presentment phase.
